The Sitges promotion and tourism agency recommends a series of routes that are detailed below and there are also guided tours of Sitges that are carried out by the company Agisitges SL, which offers cultural services in Sitges since 1995 and also organizes visits to the surroundings .
The routes proposed by the Sitges tourism agency and carried out by AGIS are:
1.- Route of the Americans
It is the route through the houses of different architectural styles from the late nineteenth century that were built by the Sitgetans who made their fortune in America.
2.- Sitges in the time of Modernism
Santiago Rusiñol was the painter and writer who at the end of the 19th century revolutionized Sitges with his modernist parties and his workshop house, El Cau Ferrat, and the town itself, was a meeting point for Modernism intellectuals and artists. The streets of Sitges have innumerable references to the aesthetics of the moment and the Cau Ferrat brings together an example of the art of the moment.
3.- Old town route
Visiting the old town of Sitges, you can see the traces that history has left in its course: remains of the old wall, the Baluard canyon, the museums, the fishermen’s houses …
4.- Route of Souls
Tour of Sitges from the Parish Church to the old cemetery, where you can find artistic works from the late 19th and early 20th centuries by the hand of other artists, Josep Llimona, Frederic Marés, Manel Fuxà, Agapit Vallmitjana …
5.- Terramar Route
Route through the Terramar area, where you can admire the architecture of mansions, mainly from the s. XIX work of Josep M. Martino y Arroyo. The Terramar urbanization began in 1918 and was inaugurated in the spring of 1933. You can admire the Modernist Gardens, the Noucentista architecture of the mansions and the beautiful Terramar Gardens, which allow you to spend relaxing moments in a large garden that delights of adults and children. It is optional to visit the old Autodromo de Terramar from 1923, which was the first permanent circuit of automobile competitions.
6.- Malvasia Route
The Hospital de Sant Joan Baptista de Sitges, built in 1912 by Josep Font y Gumà, in a modernist style, has the winery where the Malvasia de Sitges is made, which was a legacy of the Llopis family, of which their Llopis house and winery (currently Museu Romàntic).
7.- Sitges Women’s Route
It takes place on the first and third Sunday of each month. It is a walk through different places in Sitges that explain the town from the point of view of women. Thus, you visit the Mercat Vell, Sant Joan Hospital that had a woman as its first benefactress, the Maricel Museum with many female images, Avinguda Sofía …
